용담목 박주가리과의 중부지방(경기도 광릉, 소요산)에서 자라는 덩굴성 다년초로 줄기는 가늘고 길며, 근경이 짧고 뿌리가 수평으로 퍼진다.

잎 표면 맥 위에만 곱슬털이 약간 있을 뿐이고 전체에 털이 없다. 잎은 마주나기 하며 삼각상 피침형이고 길이 2.5-8cm, 폭 1-3cm로서 끝이 길게 뾰족해지며 잎자루는 길이 1-2cm로서 표면에 잔털이 있다.

 

꽃은 6-7월에 피고 지름 4-5mm로서 흑자색이며 액생하는 화서는 가지가 갈라져서 잎보다 길고 작은 꽃줄기는 길이 4-7mm이다. 꽃받침 열편은 5개로서 난상 삼각형이며 작고 화관은 통부가 짧으며 윗부분이 5개로 갈라지고 안쪽에 털이 없으며 부화관의 열편은 편구형으로서 짧고 곧게 서며 밑부분이 퍼지고 암·수술대 길이의 1/2 정도이다. 열매는 골돌로 수평으로 퍼지고, 좁은 피침형이며, 길이 4-5cm로서 털이 없다.

 

 

 

박주가리아과 (학명 : Asclepiadoideae)

박주가리아과는 협죽도과의 하위 분류군으로, 예전에는 박주가리과(Asclepiadaceae)였으나, APG II 분류 체계에서부터 협죽도과로 편입되었다.(Bruyns 2000)

 

분포

주로 열대에서 난대에 걸쳐 분포하며, 특히 아프리카에는 많은 종이 있다. 세계적으로 348개 속에 2,900여 종 가량이 알려져 있으며, 한국에는 박주가리·나도은조롱·백미꽃·솜아마존·큰조롱 등의 10속 20종 정도가 분포하고 있다.

 

특징

초본 또는 관목으로서, 잎은 대부분 마주나는데, 가장자리가 매끈하며 턱잎이 없다. 꽃은 방사 대칭인 양성화로 보통 취산꽃차례를 이루면서 달린다. 열매는 골돌이 되며, 안에는 여러 개의 긴 털을 가진 씨가 들어 있다.
